From the Book ~ "Praying Through Cancer"
Some days I don't like to look into the mirror. My once smooth skin shows the scars of eight different breast surgeries. My hair must be colored back to its original auburn hue and chemically treated to combat the post-chemo frizziness. Some days I feel far from a natural beauty ! Fortunately, GOD sees beyond the war wounds of cancer. HE looks at my heart. When HE sees me surrender myself to HIM and begin to love HIS WORD, I am the prettiest girl in the room ! { Do you hear this Kelly, Carol, Geneva and any other dolls going thru cancers beauty regiment ?}
It is interesting to consider that JESUS did not come to this earth as a handsome or wealthy man to attract people. Instead, HE humbled HIMSELF to die on a cross and remove our sin so that we could be made gorgeous women-flaws and all-in GOD's sight. HIS wounds on the cross ( they weren't pretty!) made us right and beautiful before GOD.
LORD, thank you for being willing to be physically scarred so that I could be beautiful before the KING of the UNIVERSE ! Help me to focus not on what cancer is doing to my physical body, but how YOU are making and molding the inside of me. I thank YOU for this opportunity to shine because of YOUR perfect work in me, a work far more important and lasting than my physical appearance. I praise YOU for the promise that those who look to YOU are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. Fill me to overflowing with YOUR radiance and light !
